Senior Accounting Analyst

Job Code: UPSA01

Responsible for implementing severance tax policies, reconciling tax refunds and credits, developing procedures for timely application and tracking of severance tax credits, processing required reports, overseeing monthly severance tax filing preparation, communicating with state agencies, preparing acquisition and divestiture adjustments, and testing accounting software systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for filing state severance tax refunds or reductions for the drilling of high cost gas wells and enhancing production on marginal wells; prepare all claims for eligible wells; coordinate severance tax refund or credit activity with operations personnel.
  • Reconcile tax refunds and credits to well revenues and coordinate disbursement of funds to all revenue owners.
  • Develop tracking and reporting procedures to provide timely application and tracking of severance tax credits allowed by the various governmental agencies, including coordinating and reporting the results to internal operations.
  • Process Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) and Native American reporting requirements; coordinate audits with ONRR and/or the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and individual tribes.
  • Oversee and serve as back-up for monthly severance tax filing preparation.
  • Respond to inquiries and contact state agencies on issues regarding specific well filings.
  • Prepare and verify purchase price adjustments for acquisition and divestiture transactions.
  • Test systems, document processes, and develop back-up systems pertaining to anticipated accounting software system conversion.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a key team member.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications with a preference for Microsoft Office products.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Oil and gas experience is required, specifically in oil and gas state regulatory accounting.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Geophysicist – Houston

Job Code: GEOHOU01

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret geophysical data to identify and evaluate drilling prospects in both exploratory and development modes
  • Conduct special, geophysical studies and make associated recommendations to management
  • Make independent decisions within a broad range of guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Three to Five years of directly related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Geology, Geophysics or Physics.
  • Experience in exploration using geophysical methods with a primary emphasis on seismic reflection interpretation and prospecting
  • Experience working in the onshore Gulf Coast Miocene through Eocene regions is a plus
  • Knowledge of workstation based interpretation, preferably Kingdom Suite experience
  • Ability to be self-directed while working within an environment based on team effort and mutually supportive interaction

Reservoir Engineer - Houston

The primary responsibilities for this position include preparing producing property studies, reviewing and analyzing reservoir studies, researching and recommending recovery methods, analyzing economic data, participating in reservoir simulations, and performing special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed studies of producing properties; estimate oil and gas reserves.
  • Review and analyze internal and third-party reservoir studies; conduct follow-up studies as needed.
  • Research and recommend additional reserve recovery methods such as improved operations or enhanced recovery.
  • Conduct studies to determine optimal well spacing.
  • Participate in reservoir simulation studies.
  • Analyze economic data to justify and appraise drilling programs.
  • Perform special projects as required.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Petroleum Engineering degree preferred.
  • Eight to Ten years or more of directly related experience in the petroleum industry.
  • Knowledge of structure and net pay maps.
  • Understanding of geological tasks.
  • Knowledge of PHDWIN, Aries, PowerTools, Fekete and other reserve software applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to be self-directed while working in a team environment.
